Witness 'C'

Assange in Sweden: Witness 'C'
Transcript of the third witness statement in the preliminary police investigation.

STOCKHOLM/LONDON (Rixstep) — Nine witnesses were interrogated in conjunction with the preliminary police investigation into the allegations made against Julian Assange. Some of these interrogations were conducted by telephone and therefore 'conceptual' in nature; others took place on location and were recorded and thereafter transcribed.

The interrogation of 'Witness C' was conducted on the telephone by Ewa Olofsson on 8 September (19 days after the case was filed). The interrogation began at 09:30 and concluded at 10:15.

Ewa Olofsson also acted as chief interrogator and police interrogation witness in some of the recorded interrogations.

The witness is referred to in this narrative as 'C'. She is also coincidentally a business associate of Anna Ardin.
C says she and Anna are good friends and C met Anna Tuesday 10 August. Anna told her they were going to try to get Julian Assange to Sweden and C said she'd also like to meet him even though she couldn't attend the lecture. They agreed to try to meet on Saturday and hopefully with Julian.

C later heard Julian was coming and on Saturday 14 August C and Anna spoke and decided they'd have a crayfish party and Julian would be there. Anna didn't tell her anything about her relationship with Julian.

C came to the party with her friend Alexandra at 19:00 on Saturday evening. C had amongst other things asked Anna if she was going to sleep with Julian, this because Anna is single and Anna and C have talked a lot about sex previously. Anna told her she already had done it but Anna said it was the worst screw she'd ever had. Anna also told C that C could move in and take Julian if she wanted.

Julian was terribly flirty at the party and even hit on C. C said that she nevertheless sensed an affinity between Anna and Julian at the same time Julian was flirting with C and probably other girls too. A girl even rang him on one or more occasions. C left the party at 03:00 in the morning. Julian wanted to accompany her but he didn't get to.

At some point, most likely during the party, Anna told her Julian had held her hands when they had sex, had held her hands up by her ears, and that had been uncomfortable. Anna not only thought that was the world's worst fuck but also that it had been violent. Anna showed her with her arms how she was lying when Julian held her. C had thought it was uncomfortable and not too cool but nothing more.

C and Anna spoke sometime during the following week and C asked Anna about Julian. C had wondered why Julian lived with her because C thought he was leaving the country. Anna didn't answer the question directly but admitted Julian was still there.

C and Anna were at a party together on Friday 20 August but this was after the police complaints and everything had already happened. Anna said she received an SMS message from the other girl who wanted to get in touch with Julian. Anna had understood what had happened and then they talked with each other. Anna said she and the other girl decided to go to the police because the other girl wanted to file a complaint of rape and Anna would follow along for support.

Then it was found out the police had even filed a complaint regarding Anna and the police had interpreted things to mean Anna was also a rape victim. That was also when Anna told her she thought Julian at first didn't want a condom and that they'd fought over that and then Anna rolled over. Then Julian put on a condom that Anna believed he'd broken later on during sex because she heard a snapping sound. Anna heard the sound after he'd pulled out during the act. Anna checked and ascertained the condom was still there.

Anna had been sad and reflective for she wondered how she would explain in a courtroom that she let him go on living with her despite what had happened. Anna also said she found it uncomfortable having him live there and she'd amongst other things vomited on a few occasions because she thought it was so uncomfortable.

C said the feeling she got was that Anna thought the situation was uncomfortable but not creepy or threatening. That was the feeling C got before Friday 20 August when she got to know everything.
